Go for the experience
A beach or a volcano may be why I book a flight. The people, food and everyday rhythms of a place are why I remember it.
I was born in the Dominican Republic and moved to Puerto Rico when I was five. Puerto Rico is where I grew up and where I call home.
I’m an engineer with a very full passport. Work has made airports familiar, and I build my own adventures around a full-time life—long weekends, vacation days, miles and points, and any chance to see somewhere new.
I’m drawn to the places that make you stop and ask, “Where is that?” Give me a mountain sunrise, a waterfall, a volcano, or a stretch of water I can explore by boat or scooter. I’ll chase the view, but I’ll also figure out the route, the timing and what the trip really costs.

Travel changes the size of my worries. When I’m somewhere new, learning how people live and taking in a place I’ve only ever imagined, the little things I stress about back home start to feel little again. I come back remembering the moments and the people. Experiences and connections are what make life meaningful to me, and travel gives me more of both.
For the past decade, travel has also been part of my work. Airports, hotel rooms and unfamiliar cities became familiar, but I never stopped being curious about what was beyond them. Eventually I thought: why keep those experiences to myself? The Avid Traveler is my way of sharing what I see and what I learn, hoping it gives someone else a reason to go.
So I share the feeling and the practical details: the routes, the costs, the surprises and what I would do differently. If a story here nudges you to step out of your routine, get to know a new culture and make a connection of your own, this project is doing what I hoped it would.

Limited time makes good planning matter. I look closely at flights, transfers, local transport and where spending more actually changes the experience.
I share what I experienced, what surprised me and the decisions I would make differently. My route is a starting point for yours.

Three islands, scooters, waterfalls and a whale encounter I will never forget.
